Hide

Outdoor Culture produced a number of art installations in bird hides at the College Lake nature reserve in Buckinghamshire, created by artists Martin Prothero, James Aldridge, Stu McLellan and Lynda Cornwell with help from local school groups.  We want to help to inspire people about wildlife and to show that functional bird hides can also become thoughftul artistic statements.

The site is a beautiful wetland haven for wildlife, originally a chalk quarry at the foot of the Chiltern hills, and now a nature reserve managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust www.bbowt.org.uk

With the new visitor centre opened in June 2010, College Lake is one of the UK’s top destinations for experiencing wildlife, and our intention is that our artistic interventions will attract more visitors and deepen their understanding and appreciation of this special place.

WIth many thanks to the Aylesbury Vale Community Chest for their generous support of this project.
